Monitors work using two main components: screen size and screen resolution. Screen size means the physical distance from one corner of the screen to the other and is normally given in inches. Resolution means the number of pixels contained in the display and is normally shown as: 800x600 or1024x768. The higher the resolution the better the picture quality on screen.

Some LCD and flat screen monitors may have a dead pixel on screen. These monitors work by light so you will see a tiny dot on screen that is a different colour from the rest. If you notice that your screen has a blank spot of light take it back to the store and get a new one. Dead pixels won't effect the working of the monitor because is only superficial.
