Computer Monitors Computer monitors have only come into their own recently. Up until a few years ago, a monitor was a very much taken for granted peripheral just like the keyboard. Fancy monitors were once so cost prohibitive that only businesses could afford them. Now, component costs are coming down and you can buy an excellent flat screen monitor for less than £100. LCD monitors also start around that price.
These next generation monitors offer pin sharp screen images that are a million times better than the old cathode ray monitors. Thanks to the slim line flat screens, designers have finally been unleashed on them. They have created sleek, colourful, beautiful things. Monitor design has at last come into the new century.
Monitors work using two main components: screen size and screen resolution. Screen size means the physical distance from one corner of the screen to the other and is normally given in inches. Resolution means the number of pixels contained in the display and is normally shown as: 800x600 or1024x768. The higher the resolution the better the picture quality on screen.
Some LCD and flat screen monitors may have a dead pixel on screen.
These monitors work by light so you will see a tiny dot on screen
that is a different colour from the rest. If you notice that your
screen has a blank spot of light take it back to the store and get
a new one. Dead pixels won't effect the working of the monitor because
