Apple ipods are the trendiest and most dominant music playing machine on the market. Apple currently enjoys well over 80% market share. Ipods allow users the flexibility of downloading their own music tracks. There are several different versions available. Apple ipods are similar to MP3 players in that you download music tracks from your PC onto the machine. There is one major difference however between an ipod and an MP3 player. MP3 players are made by many different companies; ipods are only made by Apple.

The price of ipods start at around £50 for a basic model that comes with 512mb hard drive capacity on which you can store around 120 songs and have 12 hours of playback time. Mid range models start at around £120 and have 2gb of hard drive capacity capable of storing up to 500 songs with 14 hours of playback time.

Top of the range ipods start at around £200 and come with 30gb of hard drive memory capable of saving up to 7,500 songs and have 20 hours playback time.

Apple ipod nano is a condensed down versions of a standard ipod and contain most of its best feature. Prices start at £70 and you can save up to 1000 songs. The ipod shuffle is another Apple ipod machine that works by randomly shuffling the play list of the songs.

The next generation of ipods are now on the market that now play videos as well as music, photos and podacasts. The new 60gb ipod plays up to 15,000 songs, takes and stores up to 25,000 photographs and stores up to 150 hours of video. Prices will start at around £300. The 30gb model will store and play up to 7,5000 songs and cost around £200.
