Electric shavers were once a luxury item. Their expensive price made them prohibitive to most people but the prices have now come down. The quality of electric shavers has increased so much that people now have a real choice to have a wet or dry shave.

The main thing to think about is your budget because that will dictate to a certain degree your search. Top of the range models can cost a couple of hundred pounds. Cheap entry level entry shavers start at around £10.

The amount that you are willing to spend by and large dictates the quality of shaver you will end up with. Cheap shavers tend to give poor inconsistent quality results, especially battery operated models that work fine on full power but lose shave quality as the batteries run dry. More expensive models give a smoother consistent quality shave. Pay as much as you can.

Another thing to think about is whether you want a cordless or corded model. Units that plug into the mains are fine but for true flexibility and portability you cannot beat a cordless model. Rechargeable cordless shavers have different amounts of shave time. Check the user manual to find out how long each charge should last. This is especially important if you want to use the razor say after a game of football and cricket.
